Canadian soprano Elaina Moreau has been praised for “Executing vocal lines with ease, …[and] demonstrating solid technique and maturity through her performances,” (Vernon Morningstar). Elaina was a member of the Vancouver Opera Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program in the 2017/2018 season. She was a semi-finalist in the prestigious VIII Mirjam Helin International Singing Competition in (Finland, 2019), a three-time Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2016, 2014, 2011), was named a laureate of the Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques (Montreal, 2017), and was a finalist in the Ricardo Zandonai International Singing Competition (Italy, 2017). Elaina can be seen next on stage with the Prince George Symphony Orchestra as the soprano soloist in Faure's Requiem in May 2024.
Past performances include Gianetta in Vancouver Opera's L'elisir d'amore, The Mother in the Vancouver Opera Festival's Requiem for a Lost Girl, the soprano soloist for Handel's Messiah with both the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Prince George Symphony, and the soprano soloist in Carmina Burana also with the Vancouver Bach Choir. With the Vancouver Opera In Schools program she toured the Lower Mainland as Sally Smith/Isis in The Scorpion's Sting. Elaina also won a Dora Award for her performance as Young Ava/The House in the world premiere of Rocking Horse Winner with Tapestry Opera (Toronto), and was seen as Bettina/Celidora/Mirza in The Lost Operas of Mozart with City Opera Vancouver, Olympia in Les contes d'Hoffman and Gilda in Rigoletto with Opera Opulenza (Vancouver), and performed the title role in L'incoronazione di Poppea with the Trentino Summer Music Festival (Mezzano, Italy). Other role highlights include Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Dalinda in Ariodante, Ida in Die Feldermaus, Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. As a voice teacher, Elaina’s students have gained entry to university classical voice programs and have also received numerous awards including winning Intermediate Voice at the Performing Arts BC provincial competition. Elaina is a proud alumna of the University of Toronto, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and the Aspen Opera Theater Center.
